Edmonton chapter
Edmonton and District Historical Society (EDHS)
Edmonton was the site of the Historical Society of Alberta when it was first formed in 1907. When the HSA was reorganized in 1958, the Amisk Waskahegan Chapter was formed in Edmonton. It was renamed the Edmonton and District Historical Society, incorporated as an independent society on October 1, 1991.
They are a non-profit, charitable society with a mandate to promote and preserve the history of Edmonton and the surrounding district. We offer a number of historical and educational events and programs over the course of the year.
The special interests of the EDHS chapter are as follows: historic programming (Speakers Series, Special Events); walking and bus tours; presentations, especially during Edmonton Doors Open and Historic Festival, publications and educational materials; special educational programming at the History Centre in partnership with the Fort Saskatchewan Museum and Historic Site.
