Historical Society of Alberta Grant Program
Applications are now closed for 2024.
The Historical Society of Alberta has created a grant program with the objective of advancing our understanding of, and ability to share, the history of Alberta.
Eligibility
Grants are available to the HSA chapters and to members (individual or organizations) in good standing. Applicants must be a member of the HSA. Joint projects between HSA chapters, members and other groups or institutions are particularly welcomed. Members of the HSA Council or members of the executives of HSA Council may apply for the grant. However, they must recuse themselves from any evaluation of, or voting on, the grants program and must make clear any potential conflicts of interest.
The HSA will fund, in part, projects which receive government or private support, on a cost- sharing basis. This relationship must be clearly articulated in the application and budget. Eligibility requirements listed as noted in the Grant Guidelines document must be met. Please ensure you have read and understood this document before applying.
Deadlines for Applications
Applications must be submitted to the HSA provincial office no later than March 31.
Requirements
- Individuals or groups who receive HSA grants must outline in the application how the information will be shared with HSA members and the general public (which may include a program at the chapter level, an article that is accepted for Alberta History and/or a chapter newsletter or through another mechanism).
- Successful applicants must complete an evaluation report, with an acceptable financial statement, which must be submitted to the HSA by March 31 following completion of the project.
- The HSA will disclose to the Society at large the amount of funding allocated to each successful project in the annual HSA financial statement presented at the Annual General Meeting and subsequently publish this information in History Now.
- Acknowledgment of funding support from the HSA shall be made at events, in publications, presented papers, and on web pages, resulting from the funded project.
